What an amazing 2014 at Elderberry! We now have 4 homes occupied and the common house complete except for, well, the final inspection! In December we had a great get together in the common house where Elderberry members invited their adult children to meet and greet - so fun to meet the larger families of our members!
We've been working on paths, have started a farming CSA, and our chickens are giving us about 9 eggs a day. There are 4 new homes starting in the next month or so, and we plan to build out all remaining homes in 2015. This is our big "build" year!
As always we love having visitors, so feel free to contact us if you would like to visit!

Well, here I am again, apologizing for not updating our blog for so long! And with so much happening!
We have two more homes under construction right now and four more starting in the next couple months. Although it's still looking like a construction site, we are starting to create pockets of beauty! Yesterday we had a lawn party on the grassy area between the common house and the garden/chickens. That's one area that is not full of rocks and holes! We played croquet and bocce ball and just enjoyed this perfect fall weather together.
The common house is nearing completion - the stoves were delivered this week and the carpenter should have cabinets completed by the end of October. We're finishing up the trim and are just completing a deck at the main entrance. By the end of the year we should have a great place to house our overnight guests (although right now we are happily hosting them in our homes!).
We would like to have the remaining lots sold and construction of remaining homes underway in 2015. We love having visitors, so if you would like more information or arrange a visit or tour, please let us know.

Happy New Year from Elderberry!
It has been about 6 months since our last update and what a
busy time it has been! Our first two
homes are complete and the first Elderberry residents are moving in! We have 5 lots left and will be starting
construction on 6 more homes soon.
We’ve been working to complete the utilities to all of the
lots (trenches for water and electric, septic systems, etc.) and have also been
working on the common house. This week
the drywall went up in the common house and the interior design committee is
picking out paint colors, appliances, etc.
Great fun!
We’ve been having a great time in conversations about what
we want Elderberry to be. We are having
a monthly get-together to discuss aging in community and are regularly sharing
ideas and dreams about how to make the community beautiful and to be as
self-sufficient as possible. We have our
first garden started (growing a cover crop this winter) and have created a land
use plan that includes, gardens, greenhouse, barns, workshops, pastures, dog
parks and much more. It’s important to
have dreams of what our community will be because right now it’s a fairly muddy
construction site!
For any of you who would like to visit and meet out members,
we have a workday, meeting and potluck on the 2nd Sunday of every
month and a workday on the 4th Sundays. Let us know if you would like to visit and we’ll
provide the details.
Have a wonderful new year!
Mary
