Crazy Combo Party

Well, sometimes we just have too many party ideas and too little time!  Every year we have a Kentucky Derby party (complete with hats, mint juleps, betting and singing My Old Kentucky Home).  This year, we also wanted to have a 60s party send-off for Diana and David, who have decided, sadly, to move to Hillsborough to be closer to town (we are definitely a rural community). So we combined the two events, which made for some interesting costumes.

There was 60s food too - fondue, casseroles and (my favorite) potato chips and Lipton onion soup dip! 
This was one of our less healthy meals!

We finished off the evening with dancing to 60's music.  Wild night!

Springtime Fun!

Spring is in full bloom here at Elderberry and we're making the most of it.  On Sunday we had our annual Weenie Roast at the Love Shack (a little one-room shack nestled back on 100 acres of gorgeous woods that we share with the Potluck Farm community).  At this event we roast weenies of all sorts (beef, turkey, vegan) and make S'mores, and for those who are healthier eaters there are a lot of other good foods to choose from!  The rain held off for us and we had a lovely time with members, grandkids and neighbors.

Getting the table set up with food!  Nancy (front left) and Dick are the brainchildren for this event and they supply the dogs, buns, condiments and paper goods.  Everyone else brings the rest of the food.
